Maureen Holmberg
Maureen
Holmberg resides in Atlanta with her husband of 27 years, Scott, and
an aging "psychatic" cat ( a term coined by her then-young son,
Matt). After 15 years in nursing she returned to school and studied
Art History. While fulfilling a studio requirement in Photography,
she discovered her true passion. She graduated from Georgia State
University with a BA (in art studio) in 1992 and an MFA in 1998 in
Photography. For the past six years she has taught photography
classes at Georgia Perimeter College at the Clarkston campus. She
has just finished her first B&W darkroom class at The Camera
Doctor and
is teaching another during the fall of 2008. Throughout the year
she will teach workshops on Polaroid Transfer and Emulsion Lifts,
Matting and Presentation of Photographic Prints, and Tone and
Advanced Darkroom Techniques.
Her photographs have been exhibited locally and nationally --
currently in Puerto Rico. She is currently focusing on what is left
behind from the aftermath of Katrina along the Gulf Coast. Her
photographic images are rich portrayals of loss and abandonment.
